Naming of a Rotunda with the name of CHRISTINA NILSSON

Many of you knew CHRISTINA NILSSON ANDRADE who did so much for the Nordic  colony in Portugal but also helped the Portuguese in need.

Mr Jose Robin de Andrade, Christina Nilsson’s husband asked the Cascais Municipality to give Christinas name to a street in Cascais in remembrance for the long  dedication to the Portuguese and Nordic Community in this country.

The Junta de Freguesia of Estoril-Cascais has decided that the Rotunda in the crossing of RUA DOS MELROS with RUA DOS LILAZES in Cascais shall bear the name of CHRISTINA NILSSON. (GPS: 38.7120,-9.4511)

A ceremony for the inauguration of the plaque is scheduled for the 30th of May, 2018, at 17.30, at said location.

Present at the inauguration will be the President of the Junta de Freguesia de Estoril-Cascais, Mr Pedro Morais, the Mayor of Cascais, Mr Carlos Carreiras,  the Ambassador of Sweden, the Presidents of SWEA and the Swedish Club and of course Mr Jose Robin de Andrade

During many years in charge of the Scandinavian Ladies Club later the Nordic Club Christina gave financial support to many Portuguese institutions of social solidarity, such as Comunidade Vida e Paz, Casa do Gaiato, Foundation Maj-Lis, Centro de Alojamento Temporario de Tercena, ACRAS, APAV and many others.

You are welcome to assist the ceremony and hope that many of you will come to this event. It is the first time a Swedish citizen will give her name to a public street in Portugal.

Christina var drivkraften bak Julemarkedet for Den nordiske klubben og overskuddet gikk til de som trengte det.
